Established in London in 2026 by Hannah O'Leary, founder of both Bonhams' and Sotheby's pioneering African art auctions, HOLFA is an independent advisory specialising in Modern and Contemporary African Art. Drawing on two decades building and leading the field's international secondary market—having introduced countless artists to the global stage and achieved over 200 world-record prices—O'Leary is among its most experienced and trusted authorities. Through HOLFA, she provides private collectors, estates, and institutions with discreet, bespoke strategic guidance on collection development, acquisitions, high-value valuations, and international museum loans, as well as direct access to museum-quality works.
In addition to leading HOLFA, she serves as Sotheby’s Consultant for Modern African Art. Her broader leadership across the cultural sector includes positions on the Council of the Royal African Society and the Board of the Norval Foundation, as well as the Drawing Room Biennial Committee, the International Art Council for TOP CHARITY, and the Advisory Board of The Africa Soft Power Project. She also serves as Chair of the Film Africa Advisory Group. A lecturer at major global institutions—including the Royal Academy, Haus der Kunst, Pérez Art Museum Miami, and the Venice Biennale—she is widely consulted as an authoritative media voice for the BBC, CNN, NPR, Vogue, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Guardian.
